MARINNA KHON.....RIP....GOD BLESS

I was reading the news today and I am saddened by the apparent drowning of 22 year old Marinna Khon on Plum Island yesterday.I really do not know much about her except that reports say she is from Lynn,Ma.

While reading about the incident online I made the mistake of reading the comments to the story ;..........I was disgusted.......Many of the statements were derogatory and alluded to the fact that she was an illegal immigrant.......I assume that was determined by her picture......Talk about profiling......

It amazes me to see the hate and venom "spilling out " in the face of a tragedy that took a beautiful young woman's life.......

I understand the Arizona immigration law and why it was enacted, however it is scary to think that the anger and lack of compassion set forth today online will in certain instances give rise to the fears of injustice and hurt upon certain persons who are in the wrong place and "look immigrant".....

We all have inalienable rights........and are created equal.....remember that..........

  1. As her friend, we still have hope, we are not focusing on RIP, we are focusing on "come home"

  5. That is a really old picture of her... I've known Marinna for 9 years... I'm praying for her to come home again, while being out to sea I wasn't there with them. I remember her as the most driven person on the face of the planet; talking to her late night while she's working on her term paper while she's helping me with my girl problem, getting random calls from her because she is walking from the library to her dorm... I really do miss her... Being in the service we never got to hang out anymore.. You would've been a great Aunt for my kids =/
She was indeed a great person. We will meet again definitely.

  6. We've only hung out a few times, but during those times she was always making jokes, smiling, laughing, & very respectful. I'm still in a little denial every time I think of what happen. In my heart I really hope for a miracle. I'm praying that somehow she was rescued &

  7. Harvey, you are a kind man.

Marinna was a wonderful individual. She was literally a one-in-a-million individual, and it broke my heart that the rest of the world would not get to meet such an inspiring woman. I did not know her for long, but I can honestly say that she was a strong individual and tried her hardest on all of her endeavors. She was brilliant in many ways - ambitious, intelligent, modest, delightful, and most importantly, sincere. She was an angel...

  8. Harvey we appreciate your kind words, thoughts and prayers. Anyone who knows Marinna knows she is an inspiring and energetic person. I remember countless nights watching Marinna, Alex and Tori rehearse for dance. I am still praying and hoping she comes home.
