OBAMA'S.......AUNTIE...........AND VICKI

On my way home I was listening to Howie Carr discussing the grant of amnesty to the President's Aunt Zeituna Onyango.........Howie acknowledged the atrocities committed in Countries such as Kenya......but he asked the obvious question.......why do we have to pay for it ?

I assume like Howie that she is on welfare and will continue doing it....for the future. It is a expensive proposition when you consider the big picture and the numbers involved.........

The grant of asylum is based upon a person being prosecuted in their Country for religion, race, nationality, political opinion or membership in a social group.........

I don't know the answer to the overall problem, however social justice calls for this person to be given asylum.......

The turmoil in Kenya would find people who would cause her harm for any number of reasons ;

As a member of the Obama Clan she is a member of a social group that would find wrath along with anger for its political opinion.......and the religion, race and nationality of that group.....What ever it happens to be......

Concerning the big picture.... Vicki Kennedy says....She will take "only "$ 68.5 million for Ted's Memorial even though Congress has approved $ 38.5 million........That's a little more than Auntie will receive during her life expediency.......Everything is relative. What's another $ 30 million.......when" money goes to money".........

BOSTON GLOBE ..HOUSE HAS DEAF EARS TO EDUCATION PROPOSAL.....

Is their any wonder that the Education proposal discussed in yesterday's "THOUGHT'S " fell on deaf ears in the House ?

They were listening to Gov. Patrick.......

I understand that strange things happen in the back rooms of the State House and deals are made and unmade........however Gov. Patrick seems to be unfocused and disorganized in his approach to government workings' on the hill......and does not make anything happen......not even close....Republican Governor's were more effective in dealing with the Democratic House

I noticed yesterday's Education proposal which has some merit in part is "lumped in" with MV licenses for Immigrants which is far reaching with long range security implications in the"War on Terror" and basically has nothing to do with children and education. It appears that the Governor was merely grabbing headlines and was not serious on the last day of the Legislative Session......A joint committee got a version of the legislation passed in the Senate yesterday.....and it is my opinion that the lack of leadership as discussed above.......left it in "limbo" for another time and day.

Stop the rhetoric and raising false hopes........is my Thought for the Day........

DEVAL PATRICK......PROBABLE SURPRISE SUPPORT......

I understand that Gov. Deval Patrick is going to unveil a plan allowing immigrants which I assume are illegal aliens to pay tuition and attend State Colleges.........It will be a revisit of a issue that was defeated approximately 3 yrs. ago by the Legislature.

I normally do not see " eye to eye" with his agenda and in fact do not understand" were he is going or where he came from "..............when it comes to the direction he is leading the Commonwealth........however.......

It appears that I will support his plan concerning the above tuition plan.........for two reasons :

1. Social Justice.....We have the means and ability as a "Commonwealth ", and it is the right thing to do ! ! Why do I say that ? hear me out on my # 2 reason......

2.I had the opportunity to teach a criminology course for a semester at North Shore CC a while ago from 6:30-9:30 pm each week and I had over 30 students in the class........my guess is that some had dubious citizen credentials (I am not sure...just a possibility).....however the point is that the large majority of the students were industrious, smart, prepared and a pleasure to be involved with....

They could have been at home or " out with friends"........but instead they opted to be in a classroom.......Any young person who has the "drive and determination " of that class deserves a chance......

NO ONE PICKS THEIR BACKGROUND OR ECONOMIC STATUS........ LET'S GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY.......THIS IS HOW GREAT STORIES COME TO LIFE....
Once you have meet them and felt their " hopes and dreams"........You want to assist and keep them out of" harms way"........

LEAD.........DONT FOLLOW.......

I was on a run this morning.......and I did not have any interest in the news of the day......and upon my return home while having these recurring thoughts about social justice I " spotted " this white paper on the desk of the foyer to my condo.........It happened to be the lyrics to an old song from the 60 's..........randomly left by some unknown........It's words were appropriate to my minds' attention....... The song as paraphrased states the following ;
" If I had a hammer,Id hammer in the morning,Id hammer in the evening,All over this land
If I had a bell,Id ring it in the morning,Id ring it in the evening,All over this land
If I had a song,Id sing it in the morning,Id sing it in the evening, all over the land
Id hammer out danger,Id hammer out a warning
Id ring out danger,Id ring out a warning
Id sing out danger,Id sing out a warning
Id hammer, ring and sing out love between my brothers and my sisters..........

IT'S THE HAMMER OF JUSTICE, THE BELL OF FREEDOM,
IT'S THE SONG ABOUT LOVE BETWEEN MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS "

SOCIAL JUSTICE.......ON MY MIND.......

I am a involved with a program called ARISE/RENEW which continues this Fall and focuses on Social Justice........

Imagine being a Senior and not seeing members of your family for a half-century........not because they passed away or you had disfunction between each other.....but rather because the Government prevented you each from crossing a State line due to a political agenda.........

This is the case in North Korea.....In 1953 the Korean War ended with an armistice not a peace treaty.....and for most of that time there has not been any mail, telephone, or email between ordinary citizens from the two Koreas....Contact started in 2000 and was halted by North Korea over disagreement with It's nuclear missile programs......

I realize the seriousness of the issues, however, bargaining and negotiations should not treat the average powerless people as mere " pawns " I have the opinion that the ones in charge are not affected by this policy............

The Red Cross reports that of 127,400 applications to see family 40,000 have died.......before realizing a dream.......The Woman in the photo was allowed a phone call according to news reports..........
