Maybe this was done to give Notre Dame a way to save face and to be able to cancel Obama's speaking engagement and the giving of an honorary degree.......

HARRY KNOX!!! WHAT IS PRESIDENT OBAMA DOING ?
I have had this feeling to give the President slack,however,this latest appointment of a gay rights activist who has attacked the Catholic Church over its stand on Proposition 8 in California is shocking when you consider his other actions relative to stem cell research and abortion funding

Is this a surprise? The council is a diverse groups of representatives from all the major religions and many forms of Christianity, including Catholicism. Harry Knox is a social justice Christian. Other people were unhappy that Rick Warren gave a prayer at the inauguration.

He was appointed to a faith based council that comprises religious people from all of the major religions and many representative groups of Christians, Catholicism included. Harry Knox is well-known as a social justice Christian. Other people weren't happy that Rick Warren was asked to give the inaugural prayer. You can never make everyone happy.
